Last Hope Adoptions

When you're looking for your next pet, consider adopting a homeless animal from Last Hope. Whether you want a puppy or a more mature dog, a purebred or a one-of-a-kind mixed breed, puppy, kitten or mature cat—Last Hope has one for you and all are screened for good health and behavior. Animals over six months are spayed or neutered. Make Last Hope your first choice for a new pet, and our volunteers will help you select a pet that matches your lifestyle, personal needs and the needs of your family.

All cats are feline Leukemia tested negative, current with vaccinations, and sprayed of neutered if over the age of six months.

All dogs are heartworm tested if old enough, vaccinated and spayed or neutered is over the age of five months.

Policy on adoptions: The foster family may make recommendations about the best living situation for your new cat or kitten. Most of us feel strongly that cats function better and live longer in pairs. We may choose to adopt kittens of a litter together based upon temperament.

Many of our younger dogs were strays or lived in homes before that did not have a place to run. That is why you may see some dogs require a fenced in yard or 10 or more acres to run.  We may also make this recommendation based upon the needs of the breed. Some animals just do better with space to run and play. A guideline would be - if you do not have time to walk your new dog at least twice a day for 30 minutes, you might consider a dog that does not need a fenced yard to provide the level  of exercise that  particular dog needs.

Statistics show that preschoolers are more likely to be bit than older children. Therefore, we do not place any of our dogs in homes where children 4 and under are present.
