Things are great here at Momma Sarah's house. I get to sleep on the couch and bed, eat lots, and play with Herbie all the time. We love tug-of-war and tennis balls. I also get to ignore the cat, and he me, although he sleeps in my kennel when I'm not in it.
I've gotten big, Mom says I need to drop a few pounds, as I don't seem to have much of a waistline (I'm more apple than hourglass). I last weiged in at 68 pounds, which Mom says is "perfect." The hair on my neck, where my collar was for too long, has filled in almost completely--you can barely see the bald spots. Everyone compliments me on my shiny coat and my dark face, but who can blame them?
I've learned some behaviors from Herbie--we pick up a toy when someone new comes in the house, and we watch out the window for Grammy when Mom says she's coming over. I'm told I'm rather mouthy--I talk a lot when I want to eat, go outside, or play. I'm learning to slow down when I eat and I'm figuring out that this isn't going to be the last meal, although I still sometimes cough and hack when I eat too fast. They have to watch me, though. I stole part of the turkey bones from the trash on Thanksgiving: Mom took it away before I got the best part--man, she's quick.
I sometimes growl when I have something that she's trying to take away, but I'm learning to drop when she says so. Mostly, Mom and Grammy are impressed by my manners: I wait until someone says "OK" before I jump up on the couch or the bed--not that they could resist my big brown eyes staring at them.
Well, I should probably get going, Mom says we have Christmas pictures tomorrow, and Herbie and I need our baths. Mom's enclosed some pictures, although I'm still a little wrinkly, she says I'm well-stocked for the winter. Herbie's pictures didn't turn out real well, so they're just of me.
Thanks, Momma Jen, for taking such good care of me, and thanks to everyone else at the Rescue who found me Momma Sarah and Grammy. Merry Christmas and have a great New Year.
Love,
Cooper
