Do you know who I am?

I am the one you used to love and let me live with you. I am the one who greeted you each and everyday. I was there when you were happy and sad. I am the one.

I am the one who watched you sleep and walked by your side each day rain or shine. I am the one.

I am the one who loved you and yours all the same because I knew it made you happy. I am the one.

I am the one who obeyed you, and trusted you. I am the one.

I am the one who sat by the window each day to make sure you and yours got home okay. I am the one.

I am the one who gave you everything and every part of me. I am the one.

I am the one who would do anything with you and for you and when you asked me to go along with you I went because it was you. You who once loved me, you who now left me alone, lost and scared on the road side. I am the one.

Where am I? I watched you as you drove away and tried so hard follow you but you went way to fast. I lost you and you never came back for me. I am alone now, I am the one.

Do you remember me, the one you left abandoned on the side of the road? You, yes you who left me here, I am the one.

I feel so empty and alone here. I heard that tomorrow is my time. I will be taken away from all this noise and so many other animals so they can make room for the next one left abandoned on the side of the road.

Today is my day, do you remember me?

For I am no longer.

From the animals that have been abandoned and forgotten.
