Snowball
1987-2007
Back when Last Hope was in it's infancy, I took Bekah to Signal Hills for an adoption event to look at a prospective cat for her first pet.
She immediately walked up to a cage as a beautiful fellow named Cotton peered at her through the bars.
She exclaimed, "This one, Daddy, this one!"
It took some convincing, but I managed to talk her in to looking at the rest of the available kitties. After making the rounds I asked her which one she liked and she walked back to Cotton's cage.
Thus started a 20 year partnership.
She first changed his name to Snowball, and they were inseperable. Snowball put up with the rest of the family (especially me at feeding time) and enjoyed being cuddled and pet by all of us, but when Bekah walked in the room, he was by her side immediately. At bedtime, you could always find him curled up above her head, and he would only allow himself to be carried by her. (I later learned that if I carried him on my left shoulder, he would tolerate it for a short distance)
Grade school came, then middle school and high school, and Snowball saw her through all the tough times without judging. He even put up with and came to love the man in her life.
After a 2 year battle with renal failure, Snowball passed away peacefully in his masters arms. Farewell, my friend, you will be missed!
