Toby

(formerly Bo)

Dear Last Hope – I wanted to update you on my adoption of Toby (formerly known as Bo – he had come from a house that had 52 cats) from the Apple Valley Petco on 7/29/07.

When my daughter called and said I had to come and look at one of the cats up for adoption, I thought, ok I’ll go look but really wasn’t planning on having any more cats.  I had just had to put my cat Jake who was 14 year old, to sleep about 1 month earlier and had no intentions of getting another one but once I saw Toby, I knew he HAD to come home with me.

He was quite literally a scardy cat when he first got here, very skittish and he hid under the bed quite a bit, but that very first night he was up in bed with me curled up against my legs all night.  It took him 2 – 3 weeks but boy has his personality come out!

At first he didn’t want to play with any of the toys I had bought him but now he talks to me wanting me to play “pull the string so he can chase it” with him and he’ll thunder around the house chasing various toys he’s batting around.  And heaven forbid that I go to the bathroom without him coming in and rubbing up against my legs or plopping down on my feet so that I can pet him.

When I adopted him the foster stated that they hadn’t even been sure if he was adoptable due to a situation where he had bit someone.  Toby is SUCH a sweetheart, and I can’t imagine not having him - He has been a true joy and makes me laugh all the time at his antics.  As I’m writing this, he’s on the stool next to me telling me every so often that it’s time to pet him.

The above picture is Toby enjoying the fresh air sitting in the open window (I LOVE how he always crosses his paws!)

The following picture is Toby taking a snooze cuddled on my PJ’s on my bed

Thank you for the work you do and THANK YOU for helping to bring Toby into my life!!
